We made it to Friday! We were all excited because it was a half day of clinic and packing up for our move to Lilongwe on Sunday and then we were all going shopping to buy chitenjes, the Colorful wrap around skirts that all the women wear here. It was a busy day with eighteen patients waiting for us when we arrived at 8:00 am. Courtney, the audiologist here tells everyone to arrive at the same time so they are on time for their appointments instead of on Malawi time. The speech girls got to practice otoscopy, tymps and oaes while the rest of our half of the team were able to fit several people with hearing aids who were very happy. The other half of the team reorganized our action packers and prepped for leaving and scanned and caught up on paperwork. By two o’clock we were ready to shop! Laz, our fabulous driver dropped us off in the middle of town at a few shops. We all chose our favorite fabrics and bought skirts for 3 dollars each. We ended the day with a candlelit dinner at an Italian restaurant. It was a nice break after a busy busy week of service.
