First Day in Malawi

Wow, what a start to the Hearing for Humanity trip. After 15 hours to Johannesburg, South Africa and 2 hours to Blantyre, Malawi, the fourteen of us (6 AuD students, 5 SLP students and 3 ASU professors) have reached our destination! However, after we passed customs to pick up our baggage, 7 Action Packers that had our supplies and 2 personal bags did not arrive with the rest of the baggage. It took awhile to sort everything out, but hopefully it was only one flight away and will come tomorrow for us to pick up.

We got a glimpse of the city while we were being driven by the awesome Lazarus to our lodging. Our lodging is pretty decent, which is nice. However, we have learned our lesson to order earlier by two hours to eat because we had waited for two plus hours to get our food. We were close to sleeping while sitting at the table. However, the food that we ordered were delicious at least.

That’s all for now.

Until next time,

Angie and the Hearing for Humanity team
